Birth certificates

The birth must either have been have taken place within a Northumberland Hospital, or have been a home-birth within Northumberland and have taken place after 1837.

Death certificates

The actual death must have taken place within Northumberland and have taken place after 1837.

Marriage certificates

The marriage must have taken place within Northumberland and have taken place after 1837. View a list of licensed premises here.

Civil Partnership

The partnership must have taken place within Northumberland and have taken place after 1837. View a list of licensed premises here.

Fees and Timescales

• Recent death certificate – for deaths that were registered within the last month.​
• Dispatched first class within 1 working day of ordering or collected from County Hall. £11​
• Archived death – for deaths that were registered more than a month ago.​
• Standard – dispatched second class within 15 working days or collected from County Hall. £11​
• Priority – Dispatched first class (on the same day if the order is received by 12pm, or the following day if the order is received after 12pm) or collected from County Hall. £35​
